I’m doing some research for a class and need to find examples of how some companies have successfully/failures with overseas outsourcing. I can’t seem to have any luck in finding it. Like where or what specific websites or magazine can I research to find that kind of information.

Maybe it is something that I have been hearing about in the news or perhaps something I have discovered during my four year freelance career: outsourcing is a *big issue* for everyone both for Americans who are affected by this practice and by those workers peddling their wares.

Lately, I have been turning down jobs left and right when it is clear that the employers want nothing more than ultra cheap labor. I suppose the proliferation of $3 per article writers from India and elsewhere has emboldened some people to produce proposals geared toward that segment of the writing industry. Let’s face it: few Americans I know can afford to work for chump change.

On the other hand, I have had the opportunity to outsource some of my projects as well. Instead of going to the article mills, I have been working with an author or two experienced in writing on subjects I know little about including pet care, beauty products, and more. My plan for these authors is to pay them the full rate minus any processing charge I must pick up. I figure that means about $1-5 subtracted from the cost of a $50 article; if they are good at what they do I’ll simply eat that cost.

I know that I am mostly preaching to the choir when I state all of this, but it is worth a repeat: pay your people what they are worth and you will get superior and unrivaled writing that can only enhance your business. Settle for less and your business will reflect the shoddiness that you chose.

I hear them talking about jobs going overseas. But corporations want more profit and they get that from doing things the most economical way. This includes outsourcing but this includes automation, robotics even more and that is putting the world out of work, not just the US!
We need to redefine income worthiness and we need that to begin in some sort of document….NOW, before it is too late for our country, or we won’t have a country!

Can someone point me to a source (preferable on the net) that lists what nations US companies are outsourcing work to. Ideally one that includes some demographic info such as number of workers employeed, amount being spent, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What goes around, comes around? When third world countries develop middle classes, they will be importing more American products -so does everyone win with outsourcing? . Or should we fight to keep as many jobs in the US as possible? And, why?
